Oatmeal Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 100g Oatmeal
- 400g Whole Wheat Flour
- 440g Water
- 1 Tablespoon Salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Yeast
Hardware:
- Mixing Bowl
- Sturdy Spatula Handle or Long Wooden Spoon Improvisation 2
- Container for holding water (optional) Improvisation 1
- Plastic Wrap (optional) Improvisation 3
- Bread Pan Improvisation 4 Tip 1
Yield:
- Yields 1 loaf of bread
Instructions:
Mix dry ingredients in mixing bowl and add water. Mix thoroughly and cover with plastic wrap. Place the dough in a cool place, and ignore it. Allow it to rise for 8 or more hours. If you can't ignore it, then check it occasionally. Stare at it and contemplate existence. Ponder your life's direction. Experience the subtleties of rising bread.
After 8 hours, punch the bread and put it into the pan. Allow the dough to rise once more and then put into the oven. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.
Take a picture of it and put it on Instagram. Wait and see if others praise you for your bread-making skills, but do not allow the praise (or lack thereof) to define you. Bake bread for yourself, not for the praise.
Improvisation 1
You can also hold the mixing bowl directly below the water faucet, instead of using container to transfer water.
Improvisation 2
If you embrace technological innovation, you may use a automatic mixer to mix the dry ingredients into dough.
Improvisation 3
You can use anything to cover the dough and keep it from drying out.
Improvisation 4
You can also use a ceramic or stainless steel pot if you don't care what the final shape of your bread is.
Tip 1
If your baking pan has a tendency to stick, line it with oiled wax paper before putting the dough in the pan.
